Ano Lousoi (Άνω Λουσοί) Achaia
Ano Lousoi is a mountainous village in the Prefecture of Achaia. It is built at an altitude of 1,140 meters on the slopes of the Aroania Mountains and is one of the most mountainous settlements in Achaia. Ano Lousoi belongs to the Municipality of Kalavryta and its population according to the 2011 census is 111 inhabitants[1]. Very close to the settlement are the Caves of Limnon, which are among the most visited caves in Greece.
Local Community
The "Kallikratiki" Local Community of Ano Lousoi includes, based on the 2011 census, the settlement of Valvousia. The community is characterized as a rural mountainous settlement, with an area of 31.218 km² (2011).[2]

History
The village was called Soudena Theotokou until 1928, when it was renamed Ano Lousoi[8][9]. The old name "Soudena Theotokou" comes from the parish church of the village to distinguish it from Kato Lousoi which used to be called "Soudena Agiou Vasiliou" from the homonymous parish church there[10].
From 1830 to 1920, in addition to the settlement of Ano Lousoi, the settlement of Charaktinou was also registered as an independent settlement, belonging to the Community of Ano Lousi, which no longer exists[11][12].
