Zaganiaris (Ζαγανιάρης) Andros
Zaganiaris,[2] or Zaganiari[3] is a mountainous settlement in Andros and the South Aegean.
General information
Zaganiaris is located in the central/southern part of the island, towards the west coast at an altitude of 340 meters[4]. It is 13 km. SW. from Chora and the provincial road Gavrio - Korthi passes through its southwestern edge. West - southwest and towards the coast is the geometric settlement of Zagora (10th - 8th century BC), at an altitude of 160 meters, on the plateau of a peculiar and quite steep peninsula.[5]
It is officially reported, after the liberation, in 1835 to be annexed to the Municipality of Andros.[6] According to the Kallikratis plan and its modification by Kleisthenis I, it belongs to the community of Mesaria, Andros, which falls under the Municipal Unit of Andros of the Municipality of Andros, while according to the 2021 census it has 34 residents[7].
