Xiropigado (Ξηροπήγαδον) Aitoloakarnania
Xiropigado is a settlement in Nafpaktia and the Aitoloakarnania Regional Unit.[2]
Geographical information
Xiropigado is located east of Nafpaktos, on the Nafpaktos-Itea national road, approximately three kilometers away. In essence, the eastern side of Nafpaktos and the western side of Xiropigado have been united. Many commercial enterprises have developed along the national road, which serve the basic needs of the residents daily.
Xiropigado is characterized as a lowland village with an altitude of 50 meters[3] and a total area of 2.1 thousand acres (8.5 square kilometers), of which approximately 81% (1.7 thousand acres) is cultivable (according to the 1991 ESSYE agricultural and livestock census) and only 0.4 thousand acres are areas of settlements.
Administrative changes
According to the 2011 census, the permanent population amounted to 473 residents[4][5].Before the Kapodistrias bill was passed (Law 2539/97), Xiropigado was an independent community, while just after the implementation of the bill it administratively belongs to the municipality of Nafpaktos. With the Kallikratis plan (Law 3852/2010), Xiropigado administratively belongs to the municipality of Nafpaktia and the wider region of Western Greece.
