General information
Xirokampos is located east of Mount Kratsovo at an altitude of 410 meters[1] and is approximately 21 km. NW. from Kalampaka (seat of the municipality) and 42 km. NW. from Trikala. The 18th century domed single-arch stone bridges are considered sights: "Dellis" to the north of the village, which bridges the Kakopleuritis stream, and "Bountzas" at its northwestern end, which bridges the Bountzas stream.[3][4] The location "Blatsa", to the west, offers views of Kalampaka and Grevena.
It is officially mentioned as a separate settlement for the first time in 1951, being registered in the community of Kakoplevrio.[5] According to the Kallikrates program and its amendment by Kleisthenes I, together with Kakoplevri, it forms the community of Kakoplevrio[6] which falls under the Municipal Unit of Chassia of the Municipality of Meteora and according to the 2011 census has 173 residents.[7] The population trend according to the censuses is:
