Xinara (Ξινάρα) Tinos
Xinara is a settlement on Tinos in the Cyclades and the South Aegean.[1]
General information
Xinara is located in the southern part of the island, built on the slope of Exombourgos[2] at an altitude of 430 meters[1]. During the medieval years, this was the center of the island's crafts and trade. Xinara is the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Tinos. The building located at the entrance to the village, known as the "Palace of the Despot", houses the Archives of the Catholic Diocese of Tinos and the Museum of Ecclesiastical Relics[2].
According to the 2011 census, it is inhabited by 17 residents[3] while according to the Kallikratis program, Xinara falls under the Municipality of Tinos, the Municipal Unit of Exombourgo, the Local Community of Kampos[4].
