Vrachnos (Βραχνός) Andros
Vrachnos,[1] or Vrachnou[2] is a mountainous settlement in Andros and the South Aegean.
General information
Vrachnos is located south of Chora, perched on the mountainside at an altitude of 210 meters[3]. This village offers a panoramic view of the entire Chora and the settlements located opposite the slope of Mount Petalos, the highest mountain of Andros.
In the center of the village stands the holy Church of Agios Dimitrios with an elaborate wooden carved iconostasis. At the edge of the village there is a magnificent fountain under plane trees. In 1928 it had 146 inhabitants. In the 2021 census, 40 inhabitants were counted[4].
