Vlachikos (Βλάχικος) Fthiotida
Vlachikos is a settlement in Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Fthiotida.[1]
General information
Vlachikos is located on the western border with the Regional Unit of Evrytania. It is built at an altitude of 1,060 meters, on the northern slopes of Vardoussia, on the eastern side of the Kokkalia peak (altitude 1,720)[1] and is one of the most mountainous settlements in the prefecture. It is approximately 27 km. W.-S.W. from Sperchiada, 57 km. W. from Lamia and 23 km. SE. from Karpenisi.
It was officially mentioned for the first time in 1951, being registered separately in the community of Pougakia.[2] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with the neighboring Pougakia, Kedra, Mastoreika and Neochori, they constitute the community of Pougakia, which falls under the municipal unit of Sperchiada of the Municipality of Makrakomi, while according to the 2011 census, its population amounted to 27 residents.[3]
