Velanidia (Βελανιδιά) Messinia
Velanidia is a settlement in the Regional Unit of Messinia, in the Peloponnese Region, with a population of 43 inhabitants, according to the 2011 Census.[1] Administratively, it belongs to the Community of Velanidia and is subordinate to the Municipal Unit of Arfara, in the Municipality of Kalamata.[2]
Location
Velanidia is located at an altitude of 466 meters.[3]
Administrative changes
08-03-1841, the settlement of Velanidia[4] is annexed to the Municipality of Amfea.
31-08-1912, the settlement of Velanidia is detached from the Municipality of Amfea and is designated as the seat of the Community of Velanidia.
04-12-1997, the settlement of Velanidia is detached from the Community of Velanidia and is annexed to the Municipality of Arfara.
07-06-2010, the settlement of Velanidia is detached from the Municipality of Arfara and annexed to the Municipality of Kalamata.
