Valamandri (Βαλαμάνδρι) Trikala
Valamandrio[2] or Valamandri[3] is a settlement in Thessaly and the Trikala Regional Unit.[4]
General information
Valamandri is located in the Thessalian plain at an altitude of 115 meters[2], approximately 7 km. W. from the center of Trikala and 15 km. NE. from Pyli (the seat of the municipality). The Pineios River passes northeast of the village, to the south is the Parapotamos with the Portaikos River, to the southwest is Kato Elati and to the northwest is Fotada. It is mentioned, after the Union of Thessaly, in 1883 in the Government Gazette 126A - 02/04/1883, as being annexed to the then municipality of Peialia.[5] According to the Kallikratis program, together with Parapotamos and Lili, they form the community of Parapotamos[6], which falls under the Municipal Unit of Pindeon of the Municipality of Pyli and according to the 2011 census, 115 residents were registered[7].
