Keratovouni or Kouroupi. At Keratovouni, which is one of the two peaks of Mount Thurio, traces of an ancient cobblestone road and many fossils ("horns" from which Keratovouni) belonging to the Mesozoic period are preserved. They are fossilized shells of hippocrates, marine animals that lived in the Upper Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era and then became extinct. They belonged to the family of rudist heterodont homomyaris laminatobranchiata molluscs and were anisoconchs, thick-fleshed with the shape of an inverted cone or cylindrical or strobomorphic like a top or horns of an ox or sheep and with a length that reached one meter. The hippuritis was supported on its wide base and had two holes for mouths. Traces of a Venetian castle and turret are also preserved.
