Sipiada (Σηπιάς) Evoia
Sipiada[2] (officially Sipias[3] but also Spiada for locals) is a seaside settlement and beach in northern Evoia and the Regional Unit of Evoia.
General information
Sipiada is located on the coast of the North Evoian Gulf[2] and is approximately 4 km W-NW from Limni (the seat of the municipality) and 79 km NW from Chalkida. It is known in the area for its beach, which is also called Kochyli, which is pebbly, with numerous shells and along it with pine and linden trees.[4] It is a holiday destination in the wider area as it has an organized beach and several rooms to rent.[5]
It was officially mentioned as a separate settlement for the first time in 1971, when it was registered in the then community of Limni.[6] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Limni, Katounia, Myrtia, Retsinolakkos and Chronia, they form the municipal community of Limni, which falls under the municipal unit of Elymnion of Mantoudio–Limni–Agia Anna and according to the 2011 census, 120 residents are registered.[7]
