Rossis (Ρώσσης) Karditsa
Rossis is a settlement in Thessaly and the Regional Unit of Karditsa.[1][2]
Geographical - Historical information
Rossis is built on the southeastern slopes of Mount Voutsikaki of Agrafa at an altitude of 1,000 meters[3] and is one of the most mountainous settlements in Thessaly. It is 28 km from Anthiro (seat of the municipality) and 3 km W. from Petrilo. The village's landmark is the three-nave domed church of the Nativity of Christ with 17th-century frescoes[4] in which a stone inscription dating from 1662 survives and has been declared a historical monument since 1985[5].
It was first officially mentioned as a separate settlement in 1961, when it was registered in the then community of Petrilo.[6] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Petrilo, Argyraiika, Vasilades, Polydroso, Chalkiopoulo and Charis, it forms the community of Petrilo, which falls under the municipal unit of East Argithea of the Municipality of Argithea, while according to the 2011 census, 36 residents were registered.[7]
