Polydroso (Πολύδροσο) Karditsa
Polydroso (formerly Kampouraiika) is a settlement in Petrilo, Thessaly and the Regional Unit of Karditsa.[1][2]
Geographical information
Polydroso is located on the western slopes of Mount Voutsikaki (alt. 2,154 m) at an altitude of 1,240 meters.[1] It is approximately 1 km. NW. from Petrilo, 50 km. (guide) W.-NW. from Anthiro (seat of the municipality) and 57 km W.-SW. from Karditsa. Its old name is due to the fact that the village consists of families with the surname Kampouris.
It has about 30 houses, most of them stone. In Kampoureiika is the church of Agia Paraskevi, which is celebrated on July 26.[2] Also noteworthy is the fountain where cold crystal water flows, which has been reconstructed, but has retained its old spout. There are also 2 unused old threshing floors in the settlement.
Trails
The village is the starting point for three trails: the first goes uphill towards the Monastery of Agios Charalambos, where it branches in three directions. The first meets the old ditch and ends at Kefalogrouno (spring), the second goes towards the Voutsikaki peak and the third ends at the European long-distance trail E4.
The second trail descends to the Petriliotis River through the settlement of Vlachogianeika, while the third also ends at the Petriliotis River through the church of Agios Nikolaos. At the river, both meet: from there, one can follow the river in two directions, towards Krania at Ennia Vryses where its sources are or towards Stefaniada. One can also cross the river over the old bridge and continue to the settlement of Vasilades.
Administrative details
It was first officially mentioned as a separate settlement, under the name Kampouraiika, in 1961, being registered in the community of Petrilo. In 1964, with the Government Gazette 32A - 15/02/1964, it was renamed Polydroso.[3] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Argyraiika, Vasilades, Petrilo, Livadia, Rossi, Chalkiopoulo and Charis, they form the community of Petrilo, which falls under the municipal unit of East Argithea of the Municipality of Argithea, while according to the 2011 census it has 53 residents.[4]
