Pilima (Πίλημα) Xanthi
Pilima is a semi-mountainous village in Thrace in the Regional Unit of Xanthi.[1]
General information
Pilima is located at the northeastern foothills of Achladovounou (or Achladovouni or Achlat Tsal) at an altitude of 335 meters[2]. It is 24 km east of Stavroupoli and 11 km northwest of Xanthi. Its old name, from the Turkish occupation, was Ketseli and after the liberation, it is officially referred to as Pilima in 1924 in the Official Gazette 194A - 14/08/1924 to be annexed to the then community of Gerakas.[3] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Gerakas, Isaias, Orestini and Mega Eumiro, it forms the local community of Gerakas, which falls under the municipal unit of Stavroupoli in the Municipality of Xanthi and, according to the 2011 census, has a population of 85 residents.[4]
