Pefki (Πευκί) Evoia

Pefki is a seaside village and port in northern Evoia and the Regional Unit of Evoia.[1]

Pefki or Pefkio, a village named after a pine tree forrest in the region.

General information

Pefki is located on the northern coast of the island opposite the entrance to the Pagasetic Gulf (Trikeri Strait).[1] It is approximately 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) northeast of Istiaia (the seat of the municipality), 28 kilometres (17 mi) northeast of Aidipsos and 113 kilometres (70 mi) northwest of Chalkida. It was first officially mentioned as a separate settlement in 1912 in Government Gazette 245A - 16/08/1912, annexing it to the then community of Kourbatsi.[2] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Artemisio, they form the local community of Artemisio, which falls under the Municipal Unit of Artemisio of the Municipality of Istiaia-Aidipsos and according to the 2011 census, 457 inhabitants are registered.[3]
