Panorama (Πανόραμα) Korinthia

Panorama of Corinth is a village and municipal district in the municipality of Sikyonia in the prefecture of Corinth, with a population of 67 inhabitants in 2011.

Geography

Panorama is a settlement at the foot of Mount Aroanios (Helmos) and has a panoramic view. Originally named Fonia, a paraphrase of the name Feneos.

History

The mountain village has been inhabited by natives since antiquity because the natural lake pre-existed the plain. Later, Vlachs from the wider area of ​​Pyrgos settled here.

In the village there is a Byzantine church of Agios Dimitrios (7th-8th century) that indicates the existence of the settlement during the Byzantine period.

During the Turkish occupation, the most famous leader in the area was the famous Paploutas and Kolokotronis had passed through the monastery of Agios Georgios.

In World War I and World War II, the village and its inhabitants, who were peaceful people, did not have a particular problem with the conquerors. However, during the civil war, there were many who took part in the guerrilla war and exterminated entire families.

With the law of Kallikratis, the village is part of the municipality of Sikyonia.
