Palaiostafida (Παλαιοσταφίδα) Achaia

Palaioostafida or Paleostafida is a small semi-mountainous settlement in the Prefecture of Achaia, part of the Local Community of Akrata, and according to the "Kallikratis Program" since 1/1/2011 belongs to the Municipality of Aigialeia[2][3]. During the period 1997-2010, based on the "Kapodistrias Plan", it belonged to the former Municipality of Akrata as part of the former Municipal District of Akrata[2][4][5].
General information

It was previously called "Paliostafida" and its name was corrected to its current one on 16/10/1940[2]. Together with the neighboring settlement Fournoi, they are called "Kato Pyrgos" in contrast to the name "Apano Pyrgos", which refers to the village of Pyrgos, because their inhabitants coming from there would descend and winter in the lowlands, until these settlements acquired the form of a permanent establishment[6].
Demographic evolution

The demographic evolution of the settlement in the 21st century is as follows:

Year Population
2001 2[5][7]
2011 2[8]
