Palaiochora (Παλαιόχωρα) Imathia
Palaiochora or Paleochora is a settlement in Central Macedonia in the Regional Unit of Imathia[2], located between Korifi and Niselloudi. The village is located in the Aliakmonas plain, north of the river at an altitude of 13 meters[3] and is approximately 8 km. SE. from Alexandreia (seat of the municipality) and 51 km. W.-SW. from Thessaloniki. Historically, it is included in the villages of the Roumlouki region.[4]
It is officially reported, after the Balkan Wars and the liberation of Macedonia, in 1918 to be annexed to the then community of Korifi.[5] According to the "Kallikratis" Program and its amendment by Kleisthenis I[6], together with Koriphi, they form the community of Koriphi, which falls under the municipal unit of Platy of the Municipality of Alexandreia, while according to the 2011 census, 392 residents were registered.[7] The population censuses after World War II are:
Census 1951 1961 1971 1981 1991 2001 2011
Population 254[8] 243[9]* 289[10] 274[11] 282[12] 463[13] 392
