Niki (Νίκη) Evoia
Niki is a very small semi-mountainous village in central Evoia and the Regional Unit of Evoia.[1]
Geographical information
Niki is located on the border with northern Evoia and towards the Aegean coast, at an altitude of 351 meters[2] at the northeastern foothills of Mount Kalpakovrachos (altitude 1,176 m). It is 39 km NE of Psachna (seat of the municipality) and 50 km NNE of Chalkida. It is officially mentioned as a separate settlement for the first time in 1928 with the name Arkoudosouvala, being registered in the then community of Tsergon. In 1940 its name was corrected to Akrosouvala and in 1954 with the Government Gazette 188A - 19/08/1954 it was renamed to Niki.[3] According to the Kallikratis program, together with Glyfada, Agriosykia and Kotsikia, it constitutes the local community of Glyfada, which falls under the municipal unit of Dirfion of the Municipality of Dirfion - Messapia and according to the 2011 census, 6 residents are registered [4].
