Nerochori (Νεροχώρι ) Thesprotia
Nerochori, officially Nerochorion, is a semi-mountainous village in the regional unit of Thesprotia at an altitude of 350 meters[1].
Geography - History
Nerochori is located 29 km. NE. from Igoumenitsa and 18.5 km. NE. from Filiates. The village is built at the northeastern foothills of Mount Farmakovouni. The old name of the village was "Moutsala" and thus it is officially reported in 1920 that it was annexed to the then community of Kokkinolithariou, while in 1928 with the Government Gazette 193A-20/09/1928 it was renamed Nerochori[2]. The parish church of the village is Agia Paraskevi which belongs to the Metropolis of Paramythia, Filiates, Giromeri and Parga[3]. According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Kokkinolithari, they form the local community of Kokkinolithari, which belongs to the municipal unit of Filiates of the municipality of Filiates and according to the 2011 census has a population of 47 residents[4].
