Neo Argyri (Νέο Αργύρι) Evrytania

Neo Argyri is a settlement in the northwestern prefecture of Evrytania and is part of the municipal unit of Aspropotamos in the municipality of Agrafa. It is pArgyriart of the local unit of Neo Argyri along with the village of Dafnoula.

Location

Neo Argyri is located in the northwestern tip of the prefecture of Evrytania, very close to the borders with the prefectures of Karditsa and Aitoloakarnania. It is 90 kilometers from the capital of Evrytania, Karpenisi, and 50 kilometers from Kerasochori, the seat of the Municipality. The settlement of Dafnoula also falls under the Local Community of Neo Argiri.

To the west of the village passes the Acheloos River. It is also the natural border of the prefectures of Evrytania and Aitoloakarnania. A hydroelectric dam was built in 2009 at the Dafnozoara site to the west of the village. Also, a little further out from the two ends of the village, there are two stone-built bridges over the Acheloos. These are the bridges of Templa and Avlaki, which date back to the early 1910s.
Residents

Some of the first residents of the village come from the neighboring village of Argyri, in the prefecture of Karditsa. The village also became a refuge for other families from Epirus, but also for families from other regions during the Ottoman occupation.
