Nea Irakleia (Νέα Ηράκλεια) Chalkidiki

Nea Irakelia is a refugee village of the Municipality of Nea Irakelia in the prefecture of Chalkidiki. It has 698 inhabitants in 2001 and is a settlement of the Municipal District of Agios Pavlos. It is located about 5 km northwest of Nea Kallikratia. The inhabitants are mainly engaged in tourism, agriculture and fishing. Among other things, in the village there is a Primary School, a kindergarten and it is active [1] from a sports point of view, Dionysos football club, which competes in the local championship of EPS, Halkidiki. The visitor will encounter beaches and can find taverns and accommodation.

Historical and folklore data
In the settlement was found [2], a silver shrine dating from the 4th-5th century AD. with sculpted representations from the Old and New Testaments on all four sides. The representations depict Christ between the Apostles Peter and Paul, Daniel in the lions' den, the three Children burning, and Moses on Mount Sinai at the time of the Ten Commandments. This find is kept in the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.
