Mylos (Μύλος ) Kilkis
Mylos[1] or Myloi is a settlement in Central Macedonia in the Kilkis Regional Unit.
General information
Mylos is located south of the city of Kilkis at an altitude of 160 meters[1], near the old Kilkis - Thessaloniki national road. Administratively, it belongs to the Municipal Unit of Gallikos of the Municipality of Kilkis (Kallikratis plan)[2] and has 38 residents (2011 census)[3]. The village is crossed by the Xiropotamos River, which flows into the Gallikos River a little further west.
The village was formerly called Kotsokostaiika[2] or Koutsokostaiika. The majority of the inhabitants are Sarakatsani by origin. The Macedonian warrior Ioannis Koutsokostas[4] was from Mylos.
