Metaxades (Μεταξάδες ) Evrytania
Metaxades is a settlement in Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania.[2]
General information
Metaxades is located towards the northwestern borders with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania and Karditsa. The village is built in the Western Agrafa at an altitude of 870 meters[3] and southwest of the peak of Lakkomata (altitude 1,883 m) while the Prasia stream passes south of the village. It is 54 km. N.-N.W. from Kerasochori (seat of the municipality) and 93 km. N.W. from Karpenisi. To the southeast is Fousiana while next to and to the east is Prasia, of which it has long been considered a settlement. Their name is due to the occupation of its inhabitants (as well as Prasia) with sericulture and silk cultivation.[4]
It is officially mentioned as a separate settlement in 1928, being registered in the then community of Prasia.[5] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Prasia, Agios Ioannis Prodromos, Vasilesi and Fousiana, they constitute the local community of Prasia, which belongs to the municipal unit of Aspropotamos of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census has a population of 27 residents.[6]
