Mesi (Μέση) Imathia

Mesi is a settlement of the prefecture of Imathia that belongs administratively to the Municipality of Veria.

The surface finds around the village prove the continuous and intensive use of the area from the oldest Neolithic period (6500 - 5600 BC) as well as the late antiquity (250-750 AD). On low terrain there were small riparian settlements in the lower reaches of the Aliakmonas. In a plot of land at the western entrance of the village was found handmade and wheeled pottery from pithoids and other vessels of the early Iron Age (11th - 8th century BC).

During the Macedonian Struggle, the inhabitants of Mesi contributed a lot. Athanasios Argyriou, Dimitrios Ioannou and Dimitrios Baltzis were among the Greek Captains. All three of them were tax inspectors in charge of managing the resources that the Greek Consulate in Thessaloniki had for the smooth operation of schools in the area.
