Megali Rachi (Μεγάλη Ράχη) Ioannina

Megali Rachi is a mountainous village in Epirus and the Regional Unit of Ioannina.[1]

General information

Megali Rachi is located on the border with the Regional Unit of Arta, east of the Arachthos River, in the Northern Tzoumera (Athamanika Mountains) and at an altitude of 660 meters.[1] The village is 47 km. SE. from Ioannina and 54 km. N.-NE. from Arta. It was included as a settlement in the census for the first time in 1940 and in the community of Raftanai.[2] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Vounoria, Fraxos, Mylokopio, Paleomovhousti, Pallikari, Plaka, Raftanaioi, Rouga and Zalouchos, they form the local community of Raftanaioi, which falls under the municipal unit of Pramanta in the Municipality of North Tzoumerka and, according to the 2011 census, has a population of only 2 inhabitants.[3]
