Manoliasa (Μανολιάσα) Ioannina
Manoliassa is a village in the prefecture of Ioannina and is located in the southern part of the municipality of Bizani.
The name of the village has two versions: One says that liassa means entrance, so only one liassa or only one entrance, the other version says from Emmanuel.
It is 16.5 km from Ioannina and is located at an altitude of 820 meters[3]. It is surrounded by the mountain range of Dousko, Tomaro and the homonymous mountain range that reaches 1,100 meters.
On one of the peaks at an altitude of 1,050 meters is the Antenna Park, where all the transmitters of the local and national channels are installed.
The permanent residents of the village are 170[4] although in the 2001 census there were 307.
The village is built in a Γ shape and gives the appearance of a small basin.
History
Historically, the village was under the tutelage of both the Turks and the people of Soulio.
The historian Ch. Perraivos states that Manoliassa belonged to the confederation of Soulio. In the years 1912-13, particularly fierce battles took place between the Turks and the Greeks. The special element of the fortification of the village was that the territorial configuration of the area made the existence of technical fortifications unnecessary.
