Lili is a settlement in the Municipality of Pyli in the Trikala Regional Unit.[1][2]
General information
Lili is located in the plain of Trikala, 11 km W-SW from the city center and 15 km NE from Pyli (the seat of the municipality), at an altitude of approximately 120 meters.[3] The permanent residents reach 176 (2011 census),[4] with the majority engaged in agricultural or livestock farming. Many choose Lili, and more generally the surrounding areas as an alternative place of residence because they are within easy reach of the two cities of Trikala and Pyli, from where they can be served, for this reason a mild population increase has been observed in recent years. The settlement is surrounded by the Anapodos River and the Portaikos tributary of the Pinios River, while nearby farmland is systematically cultivated. The name of the settlement is also an issue, since in the past it was called exclusively Lili, while today the neuter gender (to Lili) has prevailed. Located in the center of the prefecture, it is a typical village of the plains of Thessaly. The village's football team, consisting of the residents, is active at the local level, while the village's primary school has now ceased operation.
