Lefkopetra is a settlement in Central Macedonia in the Regional Unit of Imathia.[1]
Geographical - Historical information
Lefkopetra is located on the border with the Regional Unit of Kozani, west of the Aliakmonas River, on the eastern slopes of Mount Mikri Santa at an altitude of 460 meters[1] while it is approximately 15 km. N. from Veroia (seat of the municipality), 63 NE. from Kozani and 88 km. W.-SW. from Thessaloniki while the Egnatia Motorway passes to its east.
It is officially mentioned, after the Balkan Wars and the liberation of Macedonia, in 1926 with the old name from the period of Turkish rule as Isvoros being annexed to the then community of Georgianoi. In 1959 its name was corrected to Lefkopetra. According to the "Kallicrates" Program and its amendment by CKleisthenes I, together with the Georgianoi, they constitute the Georgianoi community[2] which falls under the Municipal Unit of Veroia of the Municipality of Veroia, while according to the 2011 census, 59 residents were registered.[3] The population censuses after World War II are:
