Lamari (Λάμαρη) Evoia
Lamari is a semi-mountainous village in central Evoia and the Regional Unit of Evoia.[1]
Geographical - Historical information
Lamari is located on the Aegean coast and the northern foothills of Dirfy at an altitude of 300 meters[2]. It is 46 km. E.-NE. from Psachna (seat of the municipality) and 55 km. NE. from Chalkida. According to local tradition, the village was founded during the Turkish occupation (around 1714) by residents who moved from the Preveza region of Epirus. To the east of it passes the Lamari stream, which begins before Stropones and ends at Paralia Chiliadou.
After the Revolution of 1821 and the incorporation of Evoia, Lamari is officially mentioned in 1835 as being annexed to the then municipality of Lilantia. In 1919, with the Government Gazette 54A - 11/03/1919, it was designated as the seat of the newly founded community of the same name. In 1940, its name was corrected to Lamari.[3] According to the Kallikratis program, together with Stropones, Agia Irini and Paralia Chiliadou, they constitute the local community of Stropones, which falls under the municipal unit of Dirfion of the Municipality of Dirfion - Messapia and according to the 2011 census, 66 residents are listed [4].
