Lafina (Λαφίνα) Trikala
Lafina is a very small settlement in the Municipality of Pyli in the Trikala Regional Unit.[1][2]
General information
Lafina is located on the border with the Regional Unit of Arta and is built in Pindos at an altitude of 785 meters and a higher altitude of 857. The village is adjacent to the villages of Korifi and Neraida. The Acheloos River passes through the outskirts of the village. Above the village rises the mountain Aelias or Kanalos with an altitude of 1,329 meters, Mourtzia or Selio 2,064 meters and peripherally the mountains Kriakouras with an altitude of 2,150 meters, Ai Taxiarchis with an altitude of 911 meters and the Kanakaria Mountains with an altitude of 1,500 meters directly opposite.
At the entrance to the village, at the height of the Trikala-Arta national road, there is a fountain. It is 78 km from Trikala, 86 km from Arta, 28 km from Vourgareli and 5 km from the Trikala Peak. On the south side of the village is the village's patron church, Metamorfosi tou Sotiros, at an altitude of 667 meters, on whose feast day a two-day festival is held, on August 6 and 7.
Administrative information
It is officially mentioned, after the Turkish occupation, as Skliveno in 1883, annexed to the then municipality of Kothonia and in 1928 renamed Lafina.[2] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Neraida, they form the community of Neraida, which falls under the municipal unit of Neraida of the Municipality of Pyli and according to the 2021 census[3], 8 residents were registered, while in the 2011 census it had 27 residents[4].
