Kyra Vgena, Aitoloakarnania

Kyra Vgena is a mountain village in the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania with an altitude of 540 meters [1], which is located on the northern shores of Lake Trichonida, at a distance of 20.5 km A.-V.A. from Agrinio and 20 km NW. from Thermo. It is officially mentioned in 1835 in the Official Gazette 19A - 07/12/1835 with the name Achomavros being attached to the then municipality of Zakonina. In 1912 the name was corrected in Achomovos and in 1933 with the Official Gazette 46A - 20/02/1933 in Kyra Vgena [2]. According to the Kallikratis program, it is the local community of Kyra Vgenas that belongs to the municipal unit of Paravolas of the municipality of Agrinio and according to the 2011 census it has 119 permanent residents [3].
