Kranochori (Κρανοχώρι) Kavala
Kranochori, officially Kranochorion, is a mountain village in Kavala at an altitude of 500 meters[1].
Geography - History
Kranochori is located northeast of the city of Kavala at a distance of 32 km. and northeast of Philippi at 28.5 km.[2] Its old name from the time of the Turkish occupation was Kizili and so it is mentioned in 1919, after the liberation, in the Government Gazette 251A-20/11/1919 to be annexed to the then community of Kourita. It was renamed Kranochori in 1926[3]. According to the Kallikratis program, together with Polynero they form the local community of Polynero which belongs to the municipal unit of Philippi of the municipality of Kavala and according to the 2011 census has a population of 7 inhabitants[4].
