Kouris (Κουρής) Messinia
Kouris is a small settlement in the Peloponnese, in the Regional Unit of Messinia.[1]
General information
Kouris is located at the foot of Mount Kalathio at an altitude of 270 meters.[1] The village is approximately 13 km. SE. from Kalamata, 23 km. NW. of Kardamyli (seat of the municipality) and 2 km. W. from Sotirianika, while the Kalamata - Areopolis provincial road passes through its western edge.[2]
It is officially reported as a separate settlement in 1981, being registered in the community of Sotirianika.[3] According to the Kallikratis plan and its amendment by Kleisthenis I, together with Sotirianika, Haravgi and Drosopigi, they constitute the community of Sotirianika[4] which falls under the municipal unit of Avia of the Municipality of West Mani. According to the 2021 census, 19 residents were registered[5] while in the 2011 census it had 18 residents[6].
