Kladeos (Κλάδεος) Ilia
Kladeos[2][3]4] is a lowland village of Ilia in the Regional Unit of Ilia at an altitude of 104 meters[5].
Geography - History
Kladeos is located in the center of the prefecture, on the eastern banks of the homonymous river Kladeos, which ends further south in Alfeios. It is 5 km. N.-NE. from Ancient Olympia (seat of the municipality) and 21 km. E. from Pyrgos, while the Olympia - Pyrgos national road passes south of the village. Intact vessels from burial complexes or cemeteries of the Late Bronze Age have been found in the area.[6] Its old name, from the time of the Turkish occupation, is Stravokefalon and this is how it is officially reported in 1835 to be annexed to the then municipality of Pissi. In 1933, with the Government Gazette 179A - 05/07/1933, it was renamed Kladeon and in 1940 it was corrected to Kladeos.[3] According to the Kallikrates Plan, it is the local community of Kladeos, which falls under the municipal unit of Ancient Olympia of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia and according to the 2011 census has a population of 154 residents[7].
