Kechros (Κέχρος) Tinos
Kechros is a small settlement on Tinos in the Cyclades and the South Aegean.[2]
General information
Kechros is located in the center of the southern part of the island and is built on the northwestern slopes of Mount Kechrovouni, on the Livaderi plateau and at an altitude of 420 meters.[3] The village is approximately 10 kilometers N.-NE. from the town of Tinos and 1 kilometer southwest of Steni. In former times, it was famous throughout the island for its saddlery manufacturers (stratourades to the locals).[4]
It is officially mentioned, after the Turkish occupation, in 1835 to be annexed to the then Municipality of Steni.[5] According to the plan, Kallikratis belongs to the Community of Steni, which falls under the Municipal Unit of Exomvourgos of the Municipality of Tinos, and according to the 2021 census, 27 residents were registered.[6]
