Kato Zachlorou (Κάτω Ζαχλωρού) Achaia
Kato Zachlorou is a mountainous village in the former province of Kalavryta, Achaia Prefecture. It is built at an altitude of 623 meters on the slopes of one of the mountain ranges surrounding the Vouraikos River gorge. Since 1997, the village has been administratively part of the Municipality of Kalavryta.[1] It is the seat of the homonymous local community, which also includes the settlement of Ano Zachlorou and the Monastery of Megalos Spilaios. In the 2011 census, it had 38 residents.[2]
Attractions
The village is crossed by the Diakoptos - Kalavryta cog railway, at whose station those who want to visit the Monastery of Megalos Spilaios, which is located nearby, disembark. Around the station there are several taverns and guesthouses where visitors to the area can be accommodated.[3] It is 10 km from Kalavryta and 12 km from Diakopto via Odontoto.
