Kato Kerasovo (Κάτω Κεράσοβο) Aitoloakarnania
Kato Kerasovo is a lowland village of the Aitoloakarnania Regional Unit at an altitude of 100 meters[2].
Geography - History
Kato Kerasovo is located southwest of Lake Trichonida and southeast of Lake Lysimachia at a distance of 13.5 km. S.-SE. from Agrinio and 28 km. N. from Messolonghi. It is built at the northwestern foothills of Mount Arakynthos (Zygos), between the villages of Zevgaraki (NW), Ano Zevgaraki (SW) and Pappadates (E). It is officially mentioned as a settlement in 1908 in the Government Gazette 28A - 08/02/1908 to be annexed to the then municipality of Makrynia. In 1912, with the Government Gazette 261A - 31/08/1912, a homonymous community was established with the settlement as its seat[3]. According to the Kallikratis program, it is the local community of Kato Kerasovo, which falls under the municipal unit of Makrynia in the municipality of Agrinio and according to the 2011 census has 431 residents.[4]
