Kampochori (Καμποχώρι) Imathia

Kampochori is a settlement in Central Macedonia in the Regional Unit of Imathia.[2]

Geographical - Historical data

Kampochori is located near the border with the Regional Unit of Pella, in the Aliakmonas plain and north of the river at an altitude of 20 meters[2]. It is approximately 7 km. SW. from Alexandria (seat of the municipality), 26 km. S. from Giannitsa and 60 km. W. from Thessaloniki (via Egnatia Highway) while the Alexandreia - Kozani National Road passes through the village.

It is officially mentioned, after the Balkan Wars and the liberation of Macedonia, in 1918 with the name from the Ottoman occupation as Trichovista to be annexed to the then community of Episkopi. In 1926, with the Government Gazette 401A - 12/11/1926, it was renamed Kampochori.[3] In 1947, with the Government Gazette 142A - 12/07/1947, it was designated as the seat of the newly founded community of the same name. According to the "Kallikratis" Program and its amendment by Kleisthenis I, it constitutes the community of Kampochori[4] which falls under the Municipal Unit of Alexandreia of the Municipality of Alexandreia, while according to the 2011 census, 690 residents were registered.[5]
