Kampia (Καμπιά) Chios

Kampia is a village in northern Chios. It belongs to the Municipality of Kardamyla. (48 km from the city) is a small village in the northern part of Chios located at the foot of Mount Pellinaios, 500 meters above sea level overlooking a magnificent gorge. The whole area is covered with cherries, chestnuts and olive trees. Near the village there is a beautiful beach with clear waters. It is worth visiting the Castle of the Plains which is also referred to as the Castle of the Hour. These small areas are associated with ancient traditions, one of which refers to the fact that these areas have always been protected by the god Zeus.

Καμπιά, Β. Χίος

Until the 50's it was a lively village, today there are 35 permanent residents who are engaged in agriculture or are retired. According to the statistics of the statistical service, it had 197 inhabitants during the 2001 census. Immigration (internal and external) has resulted in the population shrinking of the village. Most residents have immigrated to the United States, Australia and Athens.
Castle of the Plains

The Castle of Kampia is located above the homonymous village of the Municipality of Kardamyla, at the top of an elevated rock, where there is the chapel of Agia Paraskevi, which is why the locals call it "Kastraki of Agia Paraskevi". It dominates one of the most beautiful natural landscapes of Chios, above the verdant gorge of Kambia.

It is built on a rocky outcrop and is relatively small in scale. It is a characteristic medieval fortress that takes advantage of the natural fortification of the rock with exceptional skill. Evidence is preserved from its external fortification, but not from its internal installations. It is probable that there was a central building, the location of which was later occupied by the church of Agia Paraskevi.

Canyon

A small verdant gorge has been formed by a rushing stream on the slopes of Mount Pelinnaio. The gorge crosses a hiking trail, parallel to the riverbed, which ends at Kampia beach. The route has a total length of 3,350 meters and an altitude difference of 330 meters.
