The sacred temple of Faneromeni located on the homonymous hill, to the west of the village and neighboring Nistora. It is a three-aisled basilica with a dome, which according to local tradition was built by Kosmas the Aitolokan and has frescoes inside from 1787.[4] It has been declared an ancient monument since 1964.[5]
The bridge of Politsa on Arachthos and the road connecting Fortosi with Ampelohori. It is a stone bridge with a main and auxiliary arches, almost 14 meters high, which rests on rocks. A concrete bridge has been built next to it.[6]
The stone elementary school, which has been declared a modern monument since 2008, because "it is a typical example of an Epirus school building of the beginning of the 20th century, with remarkable morphological and architectural elements and on the other hand it is closely connected to the educational history of the settlement and the memories of its inhabitants".[7]
Name - Administrative
According to local tradition, a little outside the village of Kostitsi, at the location "Lati", there was a large settlement, Latio, which was plagued by a plague. From this plague, only four brothers named Kostas, Nestoras, Petros and Fotis survived. These four brothers built the villages that still bear their name today, with various corruptions of course, namely "Kostitsi" (Kostas), "Nistora" (Nestoras), "Patero" (Petros) and "Fortosi" (Fotis). In the past, the village was written as Fortosi and in 1919 it was designated the seat of the homonymous community. In 1940 it was corrected to Fortosi.[8] According to the Kallikratis program, together with the settlements of Kostitsi, Nistora and Patero, they form the local community of Fortosi, which belongs to the municipal unit of Katsanohoria of the Municipality of Northern Tzoumerka and according to the 2011 census, as a community it has a population of 135 residents and as a settlement 38.[9]
