Drymaia (Δρυμαία ) Fthiotida
Drymaia, a settlement originally known as Glounista. It was renamed, however, to Drymaia in 1915 due to its proximity to the ancient city[4]. It falls administratively under the enlarged Municipality of Amfikleia - Elateia.[5]

Drymaia was an ancient Phocian city, built on the eastern slopes of Mount Kallidromo, above the Kifissus valley. Pausanias mentions that its settler was Nauvolos, the son of Phokos[1]. Drymaia was destroyed by Xerxes during the Persian invasion of southern Greece[2]. After the Persians were driven out, Drymaia was surrounded by strong walls that survive to this day[3]. These walls are of great historical importance and many archaeological investigations have been carried out in the area.
Drymaia has an altitude of 520 meters.[6] Its climate is Mediterranean with a lot of snowfall in the winter months. There are many beautiful places for recreation such as Cherry Spring, Ai-Giorgis and others. It is also located near the Parnassos ski resort. The fauna of the area consists of wolves, foxes, squirrels, wild boars as well as many livestock such as chickens, goats, sheep.
