Dilofo (Δίλοφο) Fthiotida
Dilofo is a mountainous village of Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Fthiotida[1], which is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Goulina at an altitude of 760 meters[2]. It is 11 km. from the seat of the Municipality of Sperchiada, 15 km. S. from Makrakomi and 38 km. W.-S.W. from Lamia. It is mentioned as a settlement from the time of the Turkish occupation under the name Boufliani and after the liberation in 1835 it was annexed to the then municipality of Sperchiada. In 1912 with the Government Gazette 261A - 31/08/1912 it was designated as the seat of the newly founded community of the same name and in 1927 with the Government Gazette 206A - 28/09/1927 it was renamed Dilofon.[3] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Agios Sostis, they form the local community of Agios Sostos, which falls under the municipal unit of Sperchiada, Municipality of Makrakomi, and according to the 2011 census, has a population of 67 residents.[4] The village is the birthplace of filmmaker and editor Giorgos Arvanitis.[5]
