Despotiko (Δεσποτικό) Preveza
Despotiko is a settlement in Epirus in the Regional Unit of Preveza.[2][3]
General information
Despotiko is located at the foot of the Souli Mountains at an altitude of 360 meters[3] and is approximately 43 km. E.-SE. from Parga and 13 km. E.-SE. from Kanallaki (seat of the municipality). It is officially mentioned, after the liberation of Epirus, in 1919 in the Official Gazette 181A - 14/08/1919 with its old name from the Turkish occupation as Ano Vlando being annexed to the then community of Kravari. In 1927 with the Official Gazette 76A - 02/05/1927 it was renamed Ano Despotiko. In 1929, with the Government Gazette 228A - 12/07/1929, it was designated as the seat of the homonymous community and in 1940 it was renamed Despotiko.[4] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Kato Despotiko, it constitutes the community of Despotiko, which falls under the Municipal Unit of Fanari, in the municipality of Parga and, according to the 2011 census, has a population of 123 residents[5].
