Chrysino (Χρύσινο) Trikala
Chrysino[1] or the Holy Monastery of Panagia Chrysinos of Kalambaka[2] is listed as a settlement in Thessaly and the Regional Unit of Trikala.
Geographical - historical data
Chrysinos is located on the northeastern slopes of Mount Triggia at an altitude of 680 meters[2] and east of the peak of Ammoutselos (1,525 m). It is approximately 40 km. NW. from Trikala, 19 km. W.-SW. from Kalambaka (seat of the municipality) and 4 km. W.-SW. from Ampelia. It is the Holy Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Chrysinos, which was founded in 1740 and is located in the location "Bouziania". The present monastery was founded after the destruction of the monastery of the same name, which was located at a lower altitude, at the location "Chania Chryssinou", which was burned during the Civil War (1946-49).[3] Its catholicon is "a vaulted church, with frescoes from 1748 signed by the Kalarritis painters Georgios and Stergios, while the two-story wing of the cells and the imposing arcades on the west side and the imposing enclosure with the wooden door are being gradually restored".[4]
Administrative - population data
It is officially reported, as an external settlement, in 1981 to be registered in the community of Kleinos, to which, according to the Kallikratis program, it belongs together with Ampelia, Kleino and Basia while it falls under the Municipal Unit of Kleinovos of the Municipality of Meteora and according to the 2011 census, 41 residents were registered[5].
