Agios Sostis (Άγιος Σώστης) Arkadia
The settlement of Agios Sostis in the regional unit of Arkadia is located southeast of the city of Tripoli at an altitude of 711 meters. It belongs to the local community of Stadiou and the Municipal Unit of Tegea. It has now been incorporated into the municipality of Tripoli. The population of the settlement amounts to 144 residents according to the 2011 census.
Administrative changes
Official Gazette 16A - 24/05/1835: The settlement of Agios Sostis is annexed to the municipality of Tegea.
Official Gazette 252A - 24/08/1912: The settlement is detached from the municipality of Tegea and annexed to the community of Achouria.
Official Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997: The settlement is detached from the community of Stadiou and annexed to the municipality of Tegea.
Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010: The settlement is detached from the municipality of Tegea and annexed to the municipality of Tripoli.[2]
Other information
The settlement of Agios Sostis is built on a small hill in the local community of Stadiou. At the top of the hill, where the village square and church are located, remains of the temple of Demeter and Kore have been discovered. It is believed that the acropolis of Ancient Tegea was located on the site of the village.
