Agios Athanasios is a settlement in the local community of Ano Kalentini, in the municipal unit (former municipality) of Irakleia, in the municipality of Georgios Karaiskakis, in the regional unit (former prefecture) of Arta, in the region of Epirus, according to the Kallikratis program. [1][2]
Geographical data
Agios Athanasios is a semi-mountainous settlement in the center of the prefecture of Arta, at the northwestern foothills of the Valtos Mountains and on the eastern banks of the Kalentini River, at an average elevation of 200 meters. It is approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Arta.[3][4][5]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"
The settlement was recognized in 1981 and was annexed to the community of Ano Kalentini
With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Ano Kalentini and was annexed to the municipality of Heraklion
With the Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010 It was detached from the municipality of Irakleia and was annexed to the municipality of Georgios Karaiskakis
