Palaipafos, Sarcophagus with scenes from Homer's Iliad and Odyssey

The larnax dimensions: length 199 cm x 67 cm, height 61 cm, wallthickness 7 cm. It was discovered 2006 in Kato Alonia near the village Kouklia, although it was found earlier by others who took objects, such as gold that probably was also in the Sarcophagus. A Kopis (sword) was found, some arrow heads, a strigil (used by athlets) , a mirror, used by the warriors before the battle and pottery.The painted relief are influence by Ionian Greek and Egyptian Art. The Sarcophagus is probably after 500 BC, maybe in the period of the Ionian revolution against the Persians in Minor Asia.
