The Masked Model. Henri Gervex
La Femme au Masque is a painting completed by Henri Gervex in 1885. It depicts the 22 year old Parisienne model Marie Renard wearing only a Domino masque. It was described a scandalous at its first public exhibition, and many women were cited/accused/scandalised/distrusted/misogynised as the model over the following years, the most high profile being Camille du Gast where it was the subject of a court case in 1902.
