Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark

The Lady Katherine Brandram (née Princess Ekaterini of Greece and Denmark) (born May 4, 1913) is a daughter of Constantine I of Greece (1868–1922) and Sophie of Prussia.

Her paternal grandparents were George I of Greece and Olga Konstantinovna of Russia. Her maternal grandparents were Frederick III, German Emperor, and the Empress Victoria. Victoria was a daughter of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Victoria of the United Kingdom.

Katherine was born in Athens. Her parents were deposed in 1917, when she was just four years old, and re-instated in 1920 and deposed again in 1922. Katherine's brother George became King George II of the Hellenes in 1922. He was deposed in 1924 and reinstated in 1935. He then abdicated in 1941. In 1947, Katherine's brother Paul, or Pavlos, became Paul I of Greece. In that same year, Katherine, living in the United Kingdom, married Richard Brandram (5.8.1911 - 5.4.1994) on April 21. She received permission to style herself Lady Katherine Brandram and in 25 August 1947 she formally renounced her title of Princess of Greece and Denmark and the style Royal Highness.

She had one son with Richard Brandram: Richard Paul George Andrew Brandram, born April 1, 1948.

Since the death of Infanta Beatriz of Spain in 2002, Katherine is the elder of Queen Victoria's two surviving great-grandchildren. The only other surviving great-grandchild is, Count Carl Johan Bernadotte of Sweden. Should she live past her 95th birthday, she will surpass Count Sigvard Bernadotte as the longest lived of all Queen Victoria's great-grandchildren.

Katherine is also the last surviving niece of William II, German Emperor. Katherine had two sisters, Helen of Greece and Denmark (who married Carol II of Romania and became Queen Helen of Romania) and Princess Irene (not to be confused with her namesake niece Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark, daughter of King Paul I of the Hellenes), and another brother, Alexander I of Greece.
